Antique & Period Furniture Pieces

Frequently, unique pieces of antique and period furniture are donated. Some require restoration and refinishing, while others are in very nice condition considering their age. Each has a story and design from the past… they present the use of solid woods such as oak, mahogany,maple, etc. which would be prohibitive in contemporary furniture. The good news is that they are not expensive! They make great conversation pieces and will last another 100 years.

Below are examples:

An East Lake style commode or washstand, with a marble top, circa 1880′s. Some nicks and a few scratches on the marble but a great buy at $ 150.00.

Another is the chest of drawers… a Federal period piece from the 1830′s, with a very unique mahogany veneer referred to as “crotch-cut” which appears as a flame or feather pattern… in very nice condition. You might find one in an auction at up to $ 500, but is being offered at $ 375.00.

The vanity was very popular in the 1930′s to 1940′s… the style was referred to as “Art Moderne” and many of us remember our mothers and grandmothers as having one… you can too! Priced at $ 125.00

Ladies Whitnauer Gold Watches

At most times, there are a combination of small and large appliances available at modest prices. Donations usually include washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, and electric ranges. The most common brands are Maytag, Kenmore, Whirlpool, GE, and Sears models. Before they are sold, all are tested (within our limitations) and appear to be in working order. Most are priced below $ 100.00, although some higher-end models may be marked more.

The Men’s clothing section have been expanded and the new displays make things much easier to find! If you are looking for a large variety and great sales on upscale, fashionable men’s clothing, then our Thrift Store must be on your list. You can choose from brands such as Izod, Lacoste, Tommy Hilfiger, Dockers, Ralph Lauren.... There is always a nice selection of shirts, pants, and jackets on the racks, and leather belts to match. There is more emphasis on our women’s selections. The racks have been expanded and reorganized to better display the wide variety of Women’s items from tops and pants, to undergarments, bathing suits, and accessories. The “Boutique Section” features carefully selected quality items that are constantly turning over. You can choose from brand names such as Diesel, Anne Klien, Liz Claiborne, Korets, Talbots, etc. The price tags on these lightly used clothes make the trip very worthwhile… check it out for yourself.

This unique non-profit thrift store, operated by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, has been offering compassion and assistance to the needy since 1989. Profits are “reinvested” in the community through St. Vincent de Paul “Conferences”, or groups, based at three local Catholic churches who entertain requests for help from those in need.

The store has 6,000 sq.ft. that is packed with a wide array of items…with a special emphasis on clothing for all the family…to the usual household items, to those unique collectibles, and vintage pieces that bring back memories. There are always examples of pre-WWII furniture, hard to find books, 45′s and LP records, golf clubs, unique jewelry, memorabilia, wall art, and knick-knacks. Take a moment to browse through the photo gallery to gain a better appreciation of the variety you will encounter in this clean, neat and well organized layout. Put the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store on your shopping trip and the bargains will surprise you!

Also, please remember that your donations are critical if the thrift store is to continue offering modestly and reasonably priced clothing, furniture, household items, small and large appliances, and other necessities. You can call for a scheduled pick-up if you live in East and South Hillsborough County. St. Vincent de Paul is an accredited non-profit with 501 (c) 3 status and donations may qualify as income tax deductions.
